Westport Folk & Bluegrass Festival

Gaelforce West takes place June 13, 2026, in Connemara, finishing in Westport. Celebrating 20 years, Ireland’s original adventure race features a 68 km multi-discipline challenge. A new 34 km Gaelforce Westport sprint adds a shorter run-and-cycle option, welcoming newcomers to this iconic endurance event.

Romsuck Regatta is a traditional Irish boat festival in Rosmuc, County Galway, taking place on 14 June 2026. The event features races and displays of historic vessels like currachs and Galway Hookers, alongside cultural activities celebrating maritime heritage on Galway Bay. Rivers on Aran – Inis Mór
Rivers on Aran – Inis Mór is a three‑day cultural and artistic event held from 16 to 18 June 2026 on the Aran Island of Inis Mór, County Galway, Ireland. It celebrates the life, work and influence of Modernist artist Elizabeth Joyce Rivers, who lived and created art on the island in the 1930s–40s.

Féile Mhic Dara is a traditional maritime pilgrimage held every July 16th on St. MacDara’s Island, Connemara. Hundreds of people travel by boat for an outdoor Mass at a 10th-century stone oratory. The festival honors the patron saint of sailors and features a colorful regatta of traditional Galway Hooker boats.

As part of the Féile Mhic Dara, it will take place the Carna Regatta, a spectacular display of maritime heritage, on July 18th. While many use the Mace Pier ferry service, others honor tradition by rowing their own currachs to the island. After the noon Mass, the waters come alive with the iconic Galway Hookers racing in the official Féile Mhic Dara regatta.

Ballinrobe Festival 2026 runs from 18–26 July in Ballinrobe, County Mayo, offering nine days of community events, live entertainment, and family activities. Organised by the Roundstone Pony Show Association, the event traditionally features dog classes, agility displays, and family‑friendly competitions. The Cashel Festival 2026 takes place 3–9 August in Cashel, Connemara. One of last year’s highlights included a family fun day with sea fishing, 5‑a‑side soccer, céilí dancing, music every night, and heritage celebrations that drew locals and visitors alike. Tour de Bog 2026 takes place 4 August in Roundstone, County Galway. This fun 32 km cycle is open to all ages, starting at the church carpark, with registration from 10 am. Participants receive a Tour de Bog t-shirt, and the event concludes with music, awards, and a family-friendly celebration.
Turf Warrior
Turf Warrior 2026 takes place 8 August beside Killary Fjord, County Galway. This 7 km mud run and obstacle course challenges participants with mud pits, gorges, waterfalls, hills, and fjord swims. Set in Connemara’s dramatic landscape, it combines adventure, fitness, and fun for thrill-seekers ready to test their endurance and bravery.
National Heritage Week 2026 runs 15–23 August across Ireland, exploring the theme “Heritage at Risk.” The event highlights endangered built, natural, and cultural heritage, showcasing workshops, talks, and demonstrations. In 2025, over 2,500 heritage events took place. Participants can explore sites, skills, and practices requiring preservation and community care.

Inishbofin Regatta 2026 is scheduled for 17 August. Details are not yet available for this year. In 2025, the event featured traditional currach racing in 4 Oar, 6 Oar, and other categories, with registration at 12 noon, races from 1 pm, and a buffet dinner, live music, and raffle at Murray’s Doonmore Hotel.

Connemara Pony Show 2026 takes place 18–21 August in Clifden, Co Galway, celebrating 101 years of the festival. The show features in-hand, ridden, and working hunter classes, plus a puissance competition. Visitors can also enjoy dog shows, Irish dancing, craft stalls, and regional competitions for food, arts, and crafts.
